i read, that many books in the summer?

(consisting of pretentious books, guilty pleasures, mindless reads, smut, recommendations, classics, or just pure want)

you don’t get to judge me about them! :3

HOUSE OF NIGHT

  • Chosen
  • Marked
  • Betrayed
  • Untamed
  • Hunted
  • Tempted
  • Burned
  • Awakened

what I have to say about these books is that even though the writing is mediocre, some of the characters make me squishy inside, and I just think Neferet is a very complex and intriguing character. CLASSIFICATION: guilty pleasures, mindless read, recommendation

IMMORTALS SERIES

  • Evermore

tried reading the books after and they didn’t appeal to me, so i stopped at the first. i don’t recommend this book :/. CLASSIFICATION: guilty pleasures, mindless read, recommendation

THE HUNGER GAMES (KATNISS EVERDEEN SERIES)

  • The Hunger Games
  • Catching Fire
  • Mockingjay

I love reading about distopian futures, and this one features a lovable oblivious to love Katniss Everdeen who, despite being really angry at the world and condemning everything, she is still such a lovable character. I love all the characters in this book, and I love the writing style of the author a lot. She packs a lot of action words, making the reading seem like a movie. Each book just keeps on getting better and better, a lot of character development and subtle romantic motifs…The end of this series is just unthinkable, plot-twisting, and a lot of people die for a better government. CLASSIFICATION: recommendation

MILLENIUM TRILOGY (MIKAEL BLOMKVIST, LISBETH SALANDER)

  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
  • The Girl who Played with Fire
  • The Girl who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest
Very sad that Stieg Larsson had to die without finishing the proposed ten books he wanted to write for this series. There could have been so much more to this story, but I feel that it ended well. I wish there would be a fourth book, but it’s just this big controversy. I love Lisbeth Salander down to her little toenail. She is such a great character and with every book, I learn to love her more. These books have very “feminist” undertones, he advocates strong women, and women who are hurt by men get their revenge (some of course). But all characters, the way he sends us on a chase, leaves us hanging on every word…it is a must read. I would also recommend watching the Swedish version of the movies, NOT the american ones that are coming out. CLASSIFICATION: pure want
